Bible Basics
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
Identify and explain foundational aspects of the authorship, structure, and composition of both the Old and New Testaments.
Summarize the key historical developments in the transmission, canonization, and translation of Scripture over time.
Articulate and defend the authority and reliability of the Bible through theological, historical, and apologetic reasoning.
Assess the value of various Bible translations and explain how they enhance personal study and ministry effectiveness.
Locate and describe major geographical features of the biblical world and analyze their significance within key biblical narratives.
Reflect on and apply biblical principles to personal character formation and leadership development within a ministry context.
Old and New Testament Survey
At the conclusion of this course, students will be able to:
Demonstrate a working knowledge of the historical, cultural, and literary background of Old and New Testament books.
Outline the general chronology and historical contours of the OT and NT.
Identify the major figures of Scripture and explain their role in God’s redemptive story.
Explain how God worked through Israel to bring salvation to the world in Christ.
Describe the context (setting, author, audience, date, purpose, genre) of various OT and NT books.
Thoughtfully apply the teachings of Scripture to daily life and ministry.
Biblical Study & Application
At the conclusion of this class, students will be able to:
Be familiar with standard Bible Study Tools
Use Inductive Bible Study Methods
Understand the value of reliable Bible Study processes
Apply study skills to exegete the Scriptures
Demonstrate the ability to communicate Biblical teaching on foundational topics
Applying the Bible in Ministry
At the conclusion of this class, students will be able to:
Demonstrate a working knowledge of how to study the Bible in a personally meaningful and transformative way.
Understand the obstacles preventing us from consistent intake of God’s Word.
Overview various worldviews teachings and spiritual warfare teachings and respond to how they impact how a spiritual leader lives.
Practice various aspects of spiritual formation.
Develop a project to understand how to correctly and appropriately apply God’s Word to various groups of listeners.
Increasingly apply what you read in the Bible to daily life.
